Deep Penetrating Light Therapy ? A Closer Look at This Up-And-Coming Therapy and Industry?

I recently began investigating a new (to me) tool for both pain relief and beauty. This is not in my realm of expertise, but I am learning more about it.

I first heard about this therapy via a customer of mine who asked if I carried a particular device. In the process of my research I learned a lot of interesting things.

One is that the FDA apparently has no problems whatsoever with this type of therapy. In fact, I know of one device that is actually FDA cleared for pain relief. This was a bit shocking and surprising. It must be a very good sign if it could make it made it beyond the watchful scrutiny of the FDA!

When I talked to the manufacturer’s representative for this device, she told me that they are expecting to be cleared for beauty purposes as well. One of the health benefits to deep penetrating light therapy is that it may boost collagen and elastin production. If true, it is plausible to think that such therapy could be capable of making skin look younger and more beautiful.

This could be very good news for women everywhere. In the case of pain relief, it could be good news for both men and women!

Here are some of the other alleged benefits from deep penetrating light therapy:

Stimulate the production of collagen. Collagen is the most common protein found in the body. Collagen is the essential protein used to repair damaged tissue and to replace old tissue. It is the substance that holds cells together and has a high degree of elasticity.

Stimulate fibroblastic activity – Which aids in the repair process. Fibroblasts are present in connective tissue and are capable of forming collagen fibers.

Increase vascularity (circulation). Circulation is increased by increasing the formation of new capillaries, which are additional blood vessels that replace damaged ones. New capillaries speed up the healing process by carrying more oxygen as well as more nutrients needed for and they can also carry more waste products away.

Stimulate the release of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the major carrier of energy to all cells. A T P provides the chemical energy that drives the chemical reaction of the cell. It is the body’s fuel!

Increase lymphatic system activity. Edema, which is the swelling or natural splinting process of the body, has two basic components. The first is a liquid part, which can be evacuated by the blood system, and the second is comprised of the proteins, which have to be evacuated by the lymphatic system. Research has shown that the lymph vessel diameter and the flow of the lymph system can be doubled with the use of light therapy.

Increase RNA and DNA synthesis. This helps damaged cells to be replaced more promptly. Reduce the excitability of nervous tissue.
