An ideal visit in the office of a chiropractor goes something like this: The first step, on the day of the appointment, for the patient is to register himself or herself on a computer which has an interactive self-registration system. In case this is the patient’s first time to the chiropractor, the patient needs to enter all the information in the system like insurance information, personal information, complaints and many more. At later stages in the treatment, the patient can simply enter the system and update the information.
The chiropractor reviews the information on the screen of the computer regarding to the patient in the examination room and adds in information after observation of the patient and discussing the symptoms and problems. There are charts and questionnaires which help in recording notes that can provide the specific description of the location of the pain and also how severe it is. The additional information that the chiropractor observes is also mentioned.
The notes are fed into a database that is electronic and also the treatment that is prescribed by the chiropractor and each of these trigger recording of the charges that are defined. The information of the treatment plan is updated with the developments in the treatment.
Towards the end of the visit, the patient goes back to the front counter and pays for the visit and schedules the next appointment. The pay is collected by the staff member, next appointment is scheduled and all the information is collected. The amount that is insured is either collected at a later time and is added to the charge sheet or can be submitted to the carrier at the time. This is the usual and ideal kind of visit that happens when you go to consult a chiropractor for your pain or problem.
